Muslims have said Mohammad was the last of the prophets. Is this saying true?

According to Muslims, Mohammad came through the prophetic lines of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus Christ, which made him the last of the prophets; this is not true. Because Muslims do not understand the construct of the Scriptures, they claim Mohammad had a connection to the prophetic line of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus Christ. First, God places emphasis of recognition, through the Scriptures, on the Jewish family only. Abraham, Moses, and Jesus Christ were not only biologically related, but they were one spiritual family through circumcision. If outsiders want to be part of that spiritual family, they will have to comply with certain guidelines. If for reasons they have not, membership would not be granted as in the case with the Islamic religion.

Unknown to them, Muslims have rejected the guidelines of becoming spiritually connected to Abraham through circumcision. Biological relation with Abraham is different from being connected to him spiritually. Perhaps some members of the Arab people are biologically connected to Ishmael, but the religion of Islam has no spiritual relation with Abraham at all. How is this?

God called Moses through a miraculous ordeal. He commanded Moses to speak to the king of Egypt that he should release the children of Israel from slavery. As a result, Moses performed mighty miraculous acts in the presence of both the Egyptians and the children of Israel as proof that God had sent him. Because the children of Israel saw the signs and wonders Moses had performed, they believed that he was a prophet of God. God used Moses as a mediator to form the religion of the Old Testament.

God had sent Jesus as a messenger into the world. Christ was born a Jew under the religion of the Old Testament covenant. Jesus’ mission was to give Himself a ransom for the sins of humanity that whosoever believed in him would have everlasting life. As proof that God had sent him, Jesus performed many mighty miraculous acts. Also, God anointed Him as high priest after the everlasting priesthood order of Melchizedek. Under this order, Christ became an everlasting high priest. Christ lives forever. This is an ideal blessing for all Christians; their high priest cannot die and by him, they will inherit eternal life.

Through Jesus Christ, God has formed the New Testament covenant, from which believers worldwide are preaching the Gospel to this day. From the New Testament comes the end of time. The New Testament is the last covenant through which God has called out the church families of the world. Believers are now awaiting the promise of everlasting life. No person or a prophet can claim the right to speak on behalf of the church of God without being covenanted to the Old and New Testaments. This, therefore, falsified the claim that Mohammad was the last of the prophets (Jewish and Christian prophets).

Both Moses and Jesus Christ came through the prophetic lines of Abraham. Abraham believed in God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness. God also made a covenant with Abraham that He had sealed by the token of circumcision. Because of Abraham’s belief, God imputed righteousness unto him. God gave righteousness to Abraham as a sign of Christ’s ministry, while the covenant of circumcision showed the sign of the Jewish religion.

Mohammad was neither a Jew nor a Christian; therefore, he did not come under the church order of the Jewish religion nor the order of Christ’s ministry. As a result, he did not have the authority to speak to or on the behalf of the church. All the prophets from Abraham to Jesus Christ, who spoke to the church, spoke under the order of either the Old or New Testament covenants.

The religion of Islam differs from both Christianity and Judaism. As a result, no one should consider Muhammad to be the last of the prophets relative to Moses and Jesus Christ. He could only be the last prophet of the religion of Islam. Mohammad, being a prophet of Islam, was qualified to speak to Muslims. Because they are not circumcised or baptized, the God of the Old Testament and New Testament does not recognize Mohammad or Muslims. God’s prophets can speak only through the old and new covenants. Mohammad was a prophet of Islam. Moses and Jesus were prophets of the Old and New Testaments. The teachings of Mohammad are contrary to both Moses and Jesus Christ.

According to the dictionary, proof is very instrumental in the confirmation of an argument or the establishing of a fact. That which has been proven, however, is that Mohammad was a prophet who taught the people about a vision he had that the angel, Gabriel, visited him. Up to this day, no one has verified this. Verification is important in this case. Paul stated that if an angel or anyone teaches a different Gospel, let that angel or person be a curse. Mohammad's claims should have been first verified as factual. It is especially important to prove a claim. Therefore, according to Paul’s statement, the Islamic religion teaches a different doctrine from Christianity.

By force, Mohammad and his compatriots compelled millions to believe in the religion of Islam. Over time, people have voluntarily accepted the Islamic faith. Because of their actions, Muslims have grown to over 2 billion followers. Unlike Jews and Christians, Muslims do not have a testimony of origin of their own. Except, that they believe in Mohammad’s vision. Neither do they have any definitive concrete proof of what they believe? Save that Mohammad had told them about a vision he had even without a single proof.

A vision can be true or false. Like the prophets that had gone before, Mohammad should have first verified the angel’s status and his sayings whether they were true. Most of the prophets, who had communicated with angels, knew there were false angels. As a result, they usually tried to verify the status of an angel whether he was false. Mohammad claimed that Gabriel spoke to him. The Scripture states that Gabriel spoke to Mary. Yet both information profoundly contradicted each other about Jesus Christ and his salvation (Luke 1:26-35).

Angels usually proved that God had sent them; especially when they were requested to do so. Mohammad did not seek to prove if God had sent this angel. It is, therefore, fair to say that Muslims' main exposition of Islam is an abstract theory that they cannot genuinely confirm. Although membership in that religion is growing at a fast pace, many followers are unaware of where they are going; being trapped into the delusion of a vision that their prophet, Mohammad, did not determine as factual because he had no witnesses. As a result, he failed to verify his claims.

King Abimelech and the Pharaoh of Egypt were proofs that God was with Abraham. The children of Israel, Pharaoh, and the miracle he had done were proofs that God was with Moses. The miracles that Jesus Christ had done, and His apostles gave witness that God was with Jesus which proved clearly that God had sent Jesus Christ. Mohammad had no witnesses, neither did he spiritually nor physically prove that the true God of heaven was with him.

Over time, many self-acclaimed prophets had emerged, and they started their religions. Some of these religions gained momentum while others faded away. However, not one of these prophets offered any witness or proof that God had sent them; yet many believed their teachings. This shows how some people can be easily trapped into self-deception. Many Muslims have fought hard to justify Islam as the truth, but they have never justified the premise of its foundation because that foundation is not concrete.

By receiving the faith, believers have become the bride of Christ. Because they have rejected the Gospel, neither Mohammad nor Muslims have any part in the faith of Christianity. Muslims’ intrusion into the Marriage between Christ and His Bride--the church--is out of line. As a result, there is no way Mohammad, an outsider, could be identified with the prophetic lines that came through the Old and New Testaments.
